AUCKLAND UNION MEETS

HAWKE’S BAY TRIP

A proposed itinerary for the Hawke’s Bay trip was presented at a meeting of the Rugby Union Management Committee, presided over by Mr. IT. Frost, last evening, by Mr. Cooper, manager of the team.

Mr. Cooper suggested that the team travel by motor, as it would thus be enabled to arrive back in Auckland on Sunday evening, instead of the Tuesday following the game. Also, by using five cars a saving of £4O would be effected in the expenses of the tour. The team will leave on Wednesday evening, September 12, stopping at Cambridge on that night. On the following day th eparty will visit the Huka Falls and the Wairakei Valley, on its way to Napier, where the match will be played on Saturday. Managers of the three Auckland representative( teams, playing on Saturday were appointed as follow: A team to play Wanganui, Mr. A. Baker and Mr. A. Tilly; B team to play Northern Wairoa, Mr. R. Cooper and Mr. M. Kronfeld; team to play South Auckland, at Pukekohe, Mr. Clea.l. Grounds officials were also appointed: Domain, Messrs. Matthews and Craig; showgrounds, Mr. Keegan; Avondale, Mr. Billingham; .North Shore, Mr. ElWorth; Onehunga, Messrs. Williams and Pepper.

Permission was granted the Technical Old Boys’ Club to travel to Hamilton on Saturday. City will travel to Pukekohe on Saturday week, and Marist Brothers to Te Aroha on the same day. As the Marist seventh-grade team has topped the list in its competition, it was decided to send a letter of congratulation to the club. A report was received from Mr. deal, manager of the Auckland representative team that travelled to Thames last Saturday, and the secretary was instructed to write to the Thames Union, expressing the thanks of the Auckland Union for the kind treatment accorded its representatives.
