FRANKLIN CANDIDATE TO BE CHOSEN

(From Our Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, Wednesday. Two further branches of the Country Political League have been formed in Franklin, at Pukekohe East and Kobe Kobe respectively. The candidate to contest the Franklin seat will be selected at a conference to be held at Pukekohe on September 14.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) OPOTxKI, To-day. That socialisation of the means of production is not a plank of the Labour Party but its objective declared Mr. D. C. Coleman, Labour candidate for the Gisborne electorate tv hen addressing a well-attended meeting at the Opotiki .headquarters of the Bay of Plenty electorate in support of Mr. Moncur, the Labour candidate for I hat seat.

Continuing, the speaker said that the Labour land policy would be of untold benefit to the man working on the farm. Farming was decreasing, while farming the farmer was increasing. Mr. Coleman gave instances of extreme distress among the unemployed in Gisborne, and blamed the Government for the unemployment position. He was accorded a vote of thanks. Answered questions throughout received a very attentive hearing.
