Charged with using indecent language to Naval Reservists in Cathedral Square, Victor Robert Blackburn, aged 18, said that because of men’s leggings and uniform he thought they were American bluejackets. Accused was fined £ 3 in default of 14 days’ imprisonment with hard labour. An application for time to pay was refused. Blackburn according to the police evidence had called out, “Who won the war?”
