TRUST BOARD WILL LEASE CITY PROPERTY
VALUABLE SITE OFFERED A valuable city property at present occupied by the South British Insurance Company, Ltd., is offered by the owners for lease by tender. The property is situated at the southern corner of Queen and Shortland Streets and is. owned by the St. John’s College Trust Board. It has frontages of 54ft to Queen Street and 41ft to Shortland Street. The South British Company will vacate the building early next year. The board has decided to call tenders for the lease under three alternative conditions as follow:—(a) A term of 21 years, with the right to modernise the building at present erected thereon; (b) a term of 60 years, with compulsory building provisions and revaluation of rental at the end of each 20 years, without compensation for buildings; or (c) a term of 60 years, with compulsory building provisions and revaluation of rental at the end of each 20 years, and compensation for building.
