By five votes to four the council decided to reiterate its opposition to the Local Summer Time Bill now before Parliament and expressed the opinion that efforts should be concentrated upon legislation for the general operation of summer time throughout the Dominion. Estimates submitted to the council by Mr. A. Greville "Walker, engineer, were as follow:—Onewa main highway, £6,625 5s 6d; Northcote main road, £19,234 17s. The chairman of the No. 1 District Highways Council said the Main Highways Board advised that the proposals were satisfactory and that the subsidy on this work will be £1 for £l.
