POWER IN FRANKLIN

ONEWHERO DISTRICT WIRED •The Franlilin Electric-Power Board met yesterday afternoon, Mr. J. Dean presiding. The offer of the Franklin County Council to defray the cost of removing three electric line poles on the Puni road, to facilitate the excavation of a drain, was accepted. At the request of the Franklin County Council it was agreed to instal an electric light at the Waiau Pa post office corner, at the usual annual charge of £4. The engineer was authorised to commission the auxiliary suction gas generating plants at Pukekohe and Waiuku, if found necessary after a conference of Public Works Department and power board engineers at Hamilton. A sub-committee consisting of the chairman, Mr. G. Arrowsmith, the engineer and the secretary’ was appointed to confer with a sub-committee representing the Pukekohe Borough Council regarding the renewal of the agreement between the board and the council. The engineer reported that the main portion of the Onewhero district would be livened during the next fortnight.
