BOWLING
CENTRE At cl special meeting of delegates to tlio Auckland Bowling Centre, Mr. S. Coldicutt presiding, remits for submission to the forthcoming annual meeting of the New Zealand Bowling Association were considered. A remit from the South Auckland Centre, ‘ That the Dominion Bowling Association should allow councillors hotel expenses when attending council meetings outside their own towns,” was carried and the Auckland delegate was instructed to support any payment up to £1 a day. In the past efforts have been made to pass such expenses, but each time the remit was thrown out narrowly mainly on an objection that it savoured of professionalism. Another remit from the South Auckland Centre, “That in the opinion of this centre it would be advisable that each centre should elect its own representative to the Dominion Council,” was defeated. The secretary reported that a notice of motion on the subject had been tabled at the last annual meeting of the council by Mr. J. W. Hardley, and it would be discussed at the next meeting. A Christchurch remit, “That in the champion rinks competition two games of 25 heads be played each day for four days,” was defeated after considerable discussion and the Auckland delegate was instructed to support the present procedure of three games a day. It was unanimously decided that any system of inaugurating a fund for the relief of old and destitute bowlers and widows and orphans of old bowlers be supported by the Auckland Centre. Mr. R. McK. Morrison, Epsom, brought up the question of rink boundaries. The chairman said it was time some uniformity in this matter was reached. It was eventually decided that as lar as the Auckland Centre was concerned the local rule would be that the outside of the peg should be taken for each rink.
