TOOK £3OO DURING WEEK Press Association. HAWERA, To-day. . Patrick O’Connor, a billiard saloonkeeper, pleaded guilty in the Manain Police Court yesterday to a charge of keeping a common gaming house. Th*» police said that documents seized showed the defendant took £ 300 in bets during the Christchurch race week, but counsel submitted that the real amount was disguised and that defendant operated only in a small way. The Magistrate, Mr. R, W. Tate, said he would take into account the action of defendant in making a full confession, and inflicted a fine of £SO.
