FIVE BURGLARIES
BUSY WEEK-END YOUTH ARRESTED (Special to THE SUN) PALMERSTON N., Friday. Burglars stole a considerable sum of money and a quantity of clothing from houses here during last week-end. Two houses at the town end of Grey Street were entered on Saturday night. At one house, occupied by Mr. J. Butler, a child’s money-box was emptied of its contents, and other small articles were taken. On Monday night the Salvation Army’s officers’ quarters in Queen Street were entered, and £l4 was stolen. Other articles were untouched. A house in Princess Street was also entered by forcing back the door of a garage. Messrs. Suisted and Beavoll’s premises in Church Street were entered, and £22 taken from a cash-box in the office. On the following day a youth was arrested by Detective Barling and charged with the above offences. Property that has not yet been identified is still in the possession of the police.
