(By “ABAYDOS”) NOTES AND COMMENTS ADDINGTON REFLECTIONS HIGH STANDARD OF PURE GAITERS The class of square-gaiter seen n action during the recent fixture of the New Zealand Metropolitan Club was of a good standard, and the ultimate results demonstrated the improvement that is being effected in this department. The trotting contests aroused keen interest, and demonstrated the wisdom of leading organisations enI couraging the pure-gaited contestants by curtailing the limits. A Surprise Packet Although Happy Rosa failed to show up in her races on the first and second days of the Addington carnival, she made no bones about the business on the concluding day, when she rerH as AUCKLAND’S SHARE OF THE SPOILS \ UCKLAND horses taking part at the Addington carnival secured £1,650 in prize money. The consistent Jewel Pointer, with three seconds and a fourth, collected £475 which, with Western King's £375 for a first and second, saw Mr. M. Moodabe’s cheque reach £BSO to commence the new season. Mr. E. Parkes's i share of the spoils when Gold Jacket won the King George Handicap was £6OO, while Native Prince, by his. victory in the Selwyn Handicap, gave Mrs. Sweetapple a cheque for £2OO. It was ] quite a pleasing performance on the part of the Auckland representatives.
