Rain interfered with some of the cricket championship matches in the latest series. Results are: Surrey v. Middlesex.—Surrey, first innings, 136. Durston took four wickets for 31, and Haig four for 44. Second innings, 433 for six wickets (Ducat 82, Barling 93, Gregory 75 not out, Garland-Wells 65 not out). Middlesex, first innings. 428 for nine (declared). (Killick 170, Hendren 104). Middlesex won on the first innings. Kent v. Yorkshire.—Kent, first, 261 (Harding© 72). Macaulay took six for 86. Yorkshire, first, 43 for one. Owing to rain, the match was drawn. Derby v. Notts.—Derby, first, 183 (Bowden 50). Barratt took five for 02. Second, 74 for four. Notts, first, 375 (Whysall 157, Walker 52). Notts won on the first innings. Hants v. Warwick.—Hants, first, 255. Wyatt, five for 64. Second, 147 for three. Warwick, first, 244 (Green 74). Warwick won on the first innings. Somerset v. Essex.—Somerset, first, 298 (Robertson-Glasgow 72, Young SOL Second, S 7 (Ingle 50 not out), O’Connor five for 15. Essex, first, 281 (Russell 91, Franklin 104). Second, 106 for three. Essex won by seven wickets. Lancashire v. Leicester.—Lancashire, first, 488 for five (declared), (Watson 80, E. Tyldesley 240, Iddon 113). Leicester first, 215* (Astil 68, Colman 54). MacDonald, four for 66. R. Tyldesley five for 55. Second (follow on), 61 for two. Lancashire won on the first West Indies v. Sussex. —West Indies first, 188 (J. Parks five for 44, Wensley four for 60). Second, 80 (Wensley six for 44). Surrey, first, 364 (Bowley 62, Grimpston 52, Cornford 53, Wagner 80 not out). Sussex won by an innings and 87 runs. Batting for Gloucester against Worcester, Dipper made 77, Hammond 80, and Neale 51 not out. Hammond took nine wickets for 23 and six for 105. Gloucester won. For Glamorgan against Northampton. Bates made 73 not out. Ryan took six for 71, and six for 59, and Mercer four for 45. For Northants, Jupp took seven for 68 And six for 84. Northants won.
