OLYMPIC FAILURES
PREVIOUS PERFORMANCES NOT RELIABLE (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) Times Cable. Reed. 11.30 a.m. LONDON, Sunday. An Olympic athlete, writing in “The Times,’’ in summing up the Empire’s performances at the Olympic Games, says that Winter’s and Lay’s failures remind us, as the track failures must remind the Americans, that too much reliance was placed on previous performances, which, in perhaps highly favourable conditions, can be a snare and a delusion in estimating the national chances at any Olympiad.
