CAR PLUNGES IN RIVER
MAN’S BODY RECOVERED DIVERS SEARCH YARRA (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) MELBOURNE, Wednesday. a i c *° sec * motor-car was traversing Alexandra Avenue, Melbourne, this afternoon when it apparently missed a turn and plunged down the bank of k e at a speed of 20 miles an hour into the river. Bubbles were seen coming to the surface of the water, which is 15ft deep at the spot. Some time elapsed before rescue efforts were undertaken bv divers. * A body believed to be that of a commercial traveller named Davey, of East Malvern, was recovered. A doctor says his death was due to heart failure This would explain the final erratic movements of the car. Some parcels in the back of the vehicle were at first mistaken for other passengers. The divers could not trace anyone else near the sunken car.
