GAY MASQUERADE

IN FANCY DRESS An amusing variety of “hard-up” and other fancy costumes was worn at a very successful carnival dance held at the Te Papapa Town Hall on Monday evening. The hall was attractively decorated with streamers and gaily-coloured lights, and in the supper-room ferns and flowers were effectively used. Dur ing the evening graceful exhibition dances were given by Madame Sophia Janson and Messrs. Gordon Mack and Sydney Andrew. The Versatile Orchestra provided excellent dance music. Madame Speight and Mr. Simpson acted as judges of the costumes, awarding the prizes to Miss Anderson. Miss McSweeney, Miss Lena McCarthy, Miss M. Moyle and Master Froggard. Among those present were: Miss F. Rowsell, in salmon pink georgette. Miss O. Elliott, wearing black stencilled crepe marquise. Miss P. Tyson, in black satin crepe. Miss L. Oyle, petunia taffeta frock. Miss O. Bouzaid, frock of hyacinth blue crepe de chine. Miss J. Weaver, jade green frock of velvet. Miss B. Burns, cerise crepe de chine. Miss Hisiop, duchess blue pleated georgette. Miss N. McCarthy, flame frock of satin. Miss G. McCarthy, powder blue taffeta. Miss M. McCarthy, flame frock of satin. Miss McCarthy, primrose georgette frock. Miss A. Darragh, cherry crepe de chine and gold lace. Miss Summers, silver beaded pink georgette. Miss Lipscombe, leaf green georgette and silver lame. Miss Peach, chai’treuse green georgette. Miss 3ST. Mitchell, sequined cherry georgette. Miss Faii'less, mignonette green taffeta. Miss C. Jamieson, salmon pink crepe de chine. Miss N. Oyle, apple green crepe de chine. Mrs. Hayes, sequined frock of green georgette. Mrs. A. Coon, flowered chiffon frock. Mrs. R. Carr, opal blue satin and lace. Mrs. H. Austin, black crepe de chine frock. , , Mrs. Babbington, grey satin and lace. Mrs. T. Bouzaid, navy blue crepe de chine. Mrs. Hulme, peach pink georgette.
