ACCIDENT WITH RIFLE

This morning Mr. Walter Motion, of Bayswater, died at the Auckland Hospital from injuries received in an accident on Sunday. While Mr. Motion was cleaning a pea-rifle on tlj.e verandah of his home at Lansdowne Street, Bayswater, on Sunday afternoon, the weapon accidentally discharged and a bullet entered his body. The rifle's muzzle was so close to him that the flame from the flash burned his clothing. The injured man was taken to the Auckland Hospital, where an operation was performed in the evening. However, he was too ill to recover, and lingered until this morning, when he died. Mr. Motion was only 25 years of age and was employed by A. B. Wright and Sons, Ltd., as a driver.
