WILL AID EXCHEQUER

TOTALISATOR BILL British Official Wireless RUGBY, Thursday. In the House of Commons to-day the Prime Minister, Mr. Baldwin, referred to the intention to treat the Racecourse Betting Bill as a Government measure. He said one reason was that the measure would be of very considerable assistance to the Exchequer and If passed it would make possible a remodelling of the betting taxes. Many members also believed very firmly that it would have a very appreciable effect in helping to cleanse British racecourses. The Bill proposes to legalise the use of the totalisator.
