DAIRYMEN CONFER
MEETING OF FACTORY MANAGERS When members of the New Zealand Dairy Factory Managers’ Association in the Auckland province met in conference yesterday afternoon, technical papers were read, and discussions followed. Mr. F. S. Board, speaking on buttermaking, said he had come to the conclusion that the ripening of cream was desirable. It was preferable to have the ripening before pasteurisation, and ripening was most satisfactorily brought about by use of the commercial “starter.” Reporting on vacuum packing for butter and cheese, Mr. J. Murray, of Palmerston North, said that in his opinion the process had nothing to commend it. Messrs. J. Murray and F. M. Tunnicliffe were appointed delegates to a conference in Wellington, which is to discuss a scheme for the formation of a Dominion Federation of Dairy Factory Managers. To-day the members of the association will visit Auckland factories. A motor trip will be taken this afternoon, and a smoke concert will be held this evening.
