TOUR DE FRANCE RACE

In the Tour de France cycling race for the section from Evian to Pontarlier the earlier teams separate and resume racing against time with fresh men in new teams. This places the Australians at a disadvantage. French teams were first and second. Watson was 36th, Opperman 37tli, Osborne, who had two punctures. 66th. The Australians are feeling the effects of the strenuous racing. Opperman says he is fatigued, but is determined to race to the finish. The course was on mountain roads.
