DERBY HOPE

PRINCE HUMPHREY STRONG TEAM FOR SYDNEY The Maheno, which left Auckland for Sydney this morning, had a very valuable consignment of ; thoroughbreds to take to the other side. I Perhaps the most interesting of the i team that was shipped this morning was Prince Humphrey, the rising three-year-old who claims an engagement in the £ S,OOO Australian Jockey Club Derby, to be run on September 29. Of all the Dominion juveniles | engaged in that rich classic, Prince Humphrey is the one most likely to earn distinction, for during the season just concluding he was one of the best of his age, Episode alone being his superior. Prince Humphrey looks really well, and has furnished nicely since he was eased three months ago. His claims to be considered an A.J.C. possibility are based on the achievements in public, and furthermore he is bred to go a distance, in addition to which he has been running on in all his races. Eden Hall, the consistent if unlucky handicap performer, was also on the steamer, having been sold to Mr. T. C. Trautwein, who some time ago gave s,ooogns for Runnymede. Other horses that were taken across by trainer J. T. Jamieson were In the Shade, Ti Tree, Mithra, Perception, Lorient 11., and a Chief Ruler —Podokes filly. J. Williamson left with the intention of purchasing a horse in New South Wales for a patron of his stable.
