THE SOCCER DISPUTE
MR. DICKSON IN REPLY In a further statement to the Press, Mr. Dickson, on behalf of the newlyformed Soccer body, traverses the remarks of Mr. Menzies at the A.F.A. meeting on Tuesday evening. Mr. Dickson asks: “What has to do with Mr. Menzies and the A.F.A. if citizens of Auckland decide to form a new association? Some of our officials, it is true, were not approached by us before we nominated them, as it is unusual to approach gentlemen in connection with honorary positions in a sports body.” • , After discussing the position of two of the honorary office-bearers, Mr. Dickson concludes by asserting that in his opening remarks at the formation of the separate association he suggested harmony between the two bodies, and was disappointed at the response of the A.F.A. as set out b> Mr. Menzies.
