SHAKESPEARE CLUB On Friday evening the Shakespeare Club gave a delightful reading of St. John Irvine’s comedy, ‘ Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary.” The Methodist Hall was crowded. The caste was as follows: —The Canon’s Wife, Mrs. F. Bullock; Sheila, Miss M. Dowd; Mrs. Westlake, Mrs. Kaber-Harrison; Miss Minims, Miss E. Bowie; Jenny, the Maid, Miss K. BRIGHT DANCE On Saturday night the staff of the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company gave a jolly dance in their building. The board room had been arranged as the supper room and was daintily decorated with jonquils. The long corridors were turned into dancing rooms and were decked with mauve and pink streamers, while wistaria blossoms festooned trell\sed alcoves. Mrs. W. H. Hume was the hostess, and received the many guests in a handsom© frock of black and gold lace. Among those present were; Mrs. Thompson, in turquoise taffeta and silver lace. Mrs. Bateman was in floral ninon over deep saxe. Mrs. Simpson was in a dainty frock of ivory and delicately-tin ted lace. Mrs. J. McNicol wore blush-pink georgette, beaded in silver.
