ALEXANDER MARKY WILL NOT RETURN
COMPLETING MAORI PICTURE “SEVERAL MONTHS YET” Any suggestion that Mr. Alexander Marky, the American film director, has been “recalled” to the United States, is strongly defied. Mr. Marky stated in Auckland today that he had no intention of returning to America until he had completed his Maori film. Mr. Marky said: ‘‘A notice in the papers to the effect that I have been recalled to America, has just been called to my attention. The information upon which this notice is based is erroneous as I have not yet nearly completed my work here, and it will be several months before the great Maori picture that I have come to New Zealand to film will be finished. 'The notice also refers to a Maori cinema a Mr. Collins is engaged in filming. I should like it to be strictly understood that I have no connection whatever with the activities of Mr. Collins, nor has whatever picture he may be making anything to do with my epic of Maori life and customs.”
