TRIBUTES TO MINISTER
FAREWELL TO THE REV. J. LAMB HARVEY Tributes to the services during the past seven years of the Rev. J. Lamb Harvey, of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, who is leaving for England shortly, were made last evening by church members and friends. “The traditions of the Church have been worthily upheld by Mr. Harvey during his ministry,” said the Rev. D. D. Scott, who presided. Mr. F. W. Matthews, enior elder, said that the membership was a mere handful when Mr. Harvey took up work. Now the communion roll showed a membership of 148. During Mr. Harvey’s charge £2,014 had been collected for church finances, and of this £BBB had been collected by the Ladies’ Guild, success being due largely to the work of Mrs. Harvey. “The years of my ministry have been somewhat difficult, but they have been happy,” replied Mr. Harvey. “Much of the success has been due to the men and the women of the Church.” Mr. Harvey was presented with a wallet of notes, and Mrs. Harvey with two bouquets, a travelling rug, a suitcase and a hat box. The Rev. T. Halliday, Moderator of the Auckland Presbytery, was present at the farewell.
