DRAIN-PIPE DISPUTE
ALLEGED COMBINE AUCKLAND FIRM WITHDRAWS ORDER (Special to THE SUN) CHRISTCPIURCH, Thursday. Allegations were made recently in Christchurch that a number of leading pipe manufacturers in the Dominion had formed a combine. In order to defeat this, the Christchurch Drainage Board accepted the offer of the Napier Concrete Company, of Auckland, for a supply of pipes below the rate of other suppliers. Now, however, the iNapier Concrete Company has written asking the board to cancel its order. The letter says it is believed that Christchurch pipe manufacturers piobably will supply the board at the same prices as quoted by the Auckland company. Discussion of the letter will take place at the next meeting of the board.
A collision between a two-seater car driven by Mr. D. Fenton of the Waihi Beach Road, and a five-seater car driven by Mr. J. Henny, of Waihi Plains, took place on the Tauranga Road on Wednesday. The drivers and their passengers escaped injury, but the cars were badly damaged.
