NO WATER-POLICE

EXPENSE NOT WARRANTED REPLY TO YACHTSMEN “The time for providing a special police patrol of the Waitemata Harbour has not yet arrived,” says a letter from the Hon. F. J. Rolleston, Minister of Justice, received this morning by the Auckland Yacht and MotorBoat Association. ‘lt is not considered advisable to incur an expenditure which at present is deemed unnecessary.” For some years past thefts have been taking place from craft left unprotected at their moorings, in one week fittings worth about £4OO being stolen. An application for a patrol on the harbour was then made. The Minister had full inquiry made by responsible officials of the Police Department, and believes the number of offences do not warrant a patrol.
