WHY VISITING ARTISTS HAVE NOT BROADCAST MANY BOUND BY CONTRACT {Special to THE SUNJ CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. New Zealand radio broadcasting stations are not so lacking in initiative as Mr. Benno Moiseiwitsch thought, when he told a reporter of THE SUN that he was sympathetic toward broadcasting, and that he wondered why the stations had not secured the services of other famous visiting artists. It appears that many of the visiting artists have been approached, but they have either been bound by contract not to broadcast, or their services have had a highei alue placed upon them than the statio s can pay. Mr. A. t. Harris, managing director of the F ..dio Broadcasting Company of ..ealand, said that his company had made strenuous endeavours to secure the services of visiting singers and instrumentalists, but they had found that in most cases the contract between artist and management absolutely disallowed broadcasting. In other cases, where there was no such clause in the contract, the management had asked a fee that was altogether prohibitive.
