EDENDALE

“THE WIZARD” One of the most absorbing mystery dramas shown locally in some time is “The Wizard,” now showing at the Edendale Theatre. Edmund Lowe, who won fame as Sergeant Quirt in “What Price Glory,” has the featured role. Leila Hyams is cast in the leading feminine role, with a group of well-known screen favourites in support. Gustave Von Seyffertitz as the eccentric scientist bent on vengeance upon the judge and his daughter, is truly menacing as he trains a huge ape to do his bidding. The ape, by the way, as played by George Kotsonaros, is a truly horrific creature who is humanised by the scientist. Mystery, suspense and humour, as well as an absorbing romance, help to make “The Wizard” an outstanding entertainment. Irene Rich in a powerful drama of New York night life entitled “Dearie,” is the second feature.
