ARGUS AND WAR
PRINCE EDWARD TO-NIGHT Argus the prophet was asked on Saturday night last would there be another war, and to the surprise of the large audience he said in his opinion there would be another war, and would state w'hen he thought it would take place, also the result. He tried hard to concentrate his mind there and then, but being at the end of a very strenuous demonstration was unable to get any impressions. It is proposed by the manager that he shall be placed in a very deep state in full view of the audience to-night and make a definite prophecy. This subject should be of wide interest to all. After the wonderful things that this boy has done in the past the people of Auckland are anxiously waiting Argus’s prophecy. A full supporting programme, which will also be shown, includes two big pictures. The first of these is a drama of Parisian life entitled “The Triumph of the Rat,” starring Ivor Novello, the popular British actor. The second feature is entitled “Jesse James” and stars Fred Thompson in a story of a modern Robin Hood in the days immediately following the American Civil War. The great beauty of Gertrude Astor, who enacts a prominent role in “The Cohens and Kellys in Paris,” the Universal Production, was as much of a handicap as a benefit in trying to forge ahead in pictures. Directors invariably gave her “dumb” roles which called very little upon her store of acting ability. George Sidney and J. Farrell MacDonald head the cast of this laugh hit, while Vera Gordon, Kate Price, Charles Delaney, Sue Carrol and Gertrude Astor are in the supporting ca*t»
