RAINPROOF VOICES

SINGERS HOLD REVEL Rainproof in voice the community singers filled the Strand Theatre, and sang “Heigh-ho, Come to the Fair,” especially the sunshiny opening, as though it was a December morning. The chairman, Sir George Fowlds, confessed that he had never heard the “Frothblowers’ Anthem” and members of the A.0.F.8. did their best to make a favourable impression. The song-leader was Mr. Charles Massee (of Jaspers, Ltd.). The Rev. Jasper Calder was presented, during the sing, with a letter asking him to stand for Manukau at the general elections. He refused as he did not think the time was yet opportune ”to pass over Jordan.”
