GRIM CHINESE TRAGEDY
(United P.A. —By Telegraph Copyright) (Australian P.A.—United Service) Reed. 10.35 a.m. SHANGHAI, Tuesday. AN extraordinary tragedy was discovered at the Tientsin railway station on the arrival of a troop train from Shantung.
The carriages were heaped with dead and dying soldiers, including White Russians, the former bodyguard of the Shantung Governor Chang Chung-Chang. They were attacked by a Chinese armoured-car corps en route, who were angry because their salaries were un-
; paid. Even the commander was not i spared. The drivers declared that they were unaware that the massacre was occur- ! ring. The train arrived virtually a coffin !on wheels. There was only a handful | of survivors, attackers and attacked I suffering equally.
