UNDESIRABLE PUBLICITY
BANKRUPT BUTCHER’S EXCUSE (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, To-day. Newspaper publicity of his prosecution by the Health Department for having insanitary premises was stated to be the cause of the failure of a Frankton butcher, Norman Stanley White, who met his creditors to-day. The amount owing to unsecured creditors was £l4O 15s lid and assets were set down at £69 14s 4d, consisting of book debts, estimated to produce £39 14s 4d, and motor-van valued at £3O. In his statement bankrupt said the publication of his prosecution, following the health inspector’s visit caused trade to fall off considerably. From May 1928 he got behind in payments, and supplies were refused him. Profits were small compared with expenses. Bankrupt said he would try to pay 10s in the £. He was now earning £4 16s weekly, out of which he had to maintain his home.
