MUNICIPAL DANCE

EFFECTIVE DECORATIONS Hanging baskets of soft green ferns and clumps of tall bamboos effectively decorated the concert chamber of the Town Hall last evening when the president and members of the Auckland Municipal Officers’ Social Club held a most successful dance and card evening. The scarlet cloths covering the card tables and potted cyclamen in bright colours added a striking note to the decorative scheme. Morrow’s orchestra supplied splendid dance music, and was supplemented by an electrola, lent for the evening by Lewis Eady, Ltd. During the evening a violin solo was given by Mr. Chatham. Miss D. Messer entertained with several sketches and some delightful songs were sung by Miss Ivay Christian. Professor Maxwell Walker contributed some very much appreciated elocutionary items, and Mr. C. Richardson supplied humour. Dancing and cards occupied the large number of guests after supper. Committee members present were: Misses Christie, Miss McGuire, Miss Harris, Mr. J. S. Brigham, Mr. H. Sommerville, Mr. T. W. M. Ashby, Mr. J. W. Barber, Mr. Winton, Mr. Shore, Mr. Til by. Mr. Bender, Mr. Edwards, Mr. Williams, and Mr. Gwilliam. Miss Christie, Nile green georgette gown, banded with silver sequins, and Vandycked hem. Miss Dickens, powder blue georgette frock. Miss Roberts, flame georgette frock with relief of silver.
