ON CIVIC SQUARE

FIRST BUILDING NOW IN SIGHT The first building on Civic Square will be commenced almost immediately, and will be that on the section leased by Messrs. Potter and Stanton. The building will be erected by th* firm of Tanfield, Potter and Company, whose Queen Street business is wellknown in Auckland. The company is not yet decided whether it will move into the new building, but it will use portion of the building for storage purposes. The lease was granted by the City Council at its meeting on Thursday, but there were conditions desired by the lessees that may delay the completion of the lease, as well as alternative tenders with a view to other sections becoming available. The main frontage to the buildup will be in Queen Street. Th§ original building proposed is one of five storeys with shops and offices.
