YOUTH’S ORDEAL

RODE 14 MILES WITH BROKEN LEG PROGRESSING WELL IN HOSPITAL (From Our Own Correspondent) WHANGAREI, To-day. A terrible ordeal was experienced by a 16-year-old lad, Robert MeCallum, who lives at Waiotira. He fell from his horse and broke his leg in two places. Suffering intense pain he managed to struggle into the saddle, and rode 14 miles to a settler's house, from whence he was conveyed tc the Whangarei Hospital in a car. He is progressing satisfactorily.
