PINNED AND DROWNED
MOTORIST’S TRAGIC DEATH
CAR FOUND IN RIVER-BED
(From Our Own Correspondent) KAITAIA, To-day
The death has occurred in tragic circumstances of Mr. George Taylor, farmer and contractor, of Oruru. Mr. Taylor had been away contracting in the Whangarei district, and no anxiety was felt about his long absence till Monday, when it was reported to the police at Mangaruru that he was missing. A search and inquiries were unfruitful, till yesterday when Mr. Alec Wells, a farmer, was driving along the back of the River Road, Mangonui, and noticed an overturned car in the creek 40ft below the road. The body of a man was pinned under the car, his head being submerged in the water. Later he was identified as Mr. Taylor.
Deceased, who. was very popular, leaves a wife and two young children. The funeral is at Peria Cemetery this afternoon.
