CHILDREN’S BALL
AT RAETIHI The children’s fancy dress ball, under the management of the committee for the Town Queen in connection with the carnival for the purpose of raisipg funds for the new Catholic Church, took place in the Town Hall at Raetihi on Friday. There was a good atteiidanace o l adults and children, anad many pretty fancy dresses were worn. Many visitors from Pakahi and Rangataua were present. The hall was prettily decorated with paper flags and evergreens. The music, by the Waimarino Brass Band, was very good. The grand march by the children was very picturesque. Air. H. Gould efficiently carried out the duties of M.C. During the evening a fancy dance was given by Miss Aioreen Carver and Aliss Eileen Plunkett. The following prizes were awarded: Best Paper Dress. —Marguerite Curran as Powder Puff. Best Couple.—Patricia and Vincent Hamylin as Carnival Girl and Superstition. Best Comic. —Oliver Aloran, as Ghost. Best Boy.—Jack Curran, as Swagger. Best Girl. —L. Plunkett, as butterfly. Special Prize.—Nola Benbow, as Daffodil. Special Prize. —Daphne Davis as Bubbles. Special Prizes.—Lorraine and Hazel Goile, Two Little Girls in Blue. The following were a few of the fancy dresses.—Edna List, Farmer’s Wife; Elsie Laming, Primrose; Ruth Gover, Traveller; Oliver Aloran, Ghost; Daphne Pearce, Robin; Alary Aloran, Fuchsia; Aloana Dowling, Night; Alarguerite Curran, Powder Puff; Jack Curran, Swagger: Nessi Curran, Red Riding Hood; Hazel and Lorraine Goilq, Two Little Girls in Blue; Aioreen Carver, Elf; Edna Allies, Red Cross Nurse; Emma Baylie, Nursery Rhymes; Dawn Baylie, Polly; Daphne Davis, Bubbles; Nola Benbow, Daffodil; Gay Hussey, Welsh Girl; Harold Curran, Ku Klux Klan; Pat Hamylin, Carnival Girl; Vincent Hamylin, Superstition; Tony Larsen, Scarecrow; Jim Carver, Indian; Pat Davis, Topsy; L.
