POWER OPERATIONS
WAITEMATA’S PROGRESS ACCOUNTS SATISFACTORY Reports submitted at a meeting of the Waitemata Power Board presided over by Mr. J. W. Hayden this morning showed that sales of current for the past month had amounted to £4,265 12s 6d. compared with £3,455 11s 9d for tire corresponding month last year, an increase of over £SOO. The total increase in revenue for the two months was £1,472 16s. The greatest increase was in the direction of domestic and industrial supply, which showed an increase of nearly £SOO over last year. Lighting showed an increase of £l5O.
Gratification was expressed that, depit.e adverse conditions of trade and unemployment, the accounts for current were being paid regularly.
Extra service line accounts had been reduced from £3,128 2s 5d to £752 6s 8d in seven months. The major portion of the balance outstanding was quite safe, and arrangements had been made with the debtors to pay as early as possible. Mr. A. Main, secretary-treasurer, reported that the quarterly returns of the board’s operations would be brought down next month.
The report of power reticulation progress submitted by the resident engineer, Mr. F. J. H. Wilson, stated that the erection of the poles through the Haupaki Estate had been completed, and short extensions had been made along Sunnyside Road, Henderson, and at Titirangi. In New Lynn an additional transformer was being installed in Hunchinson Avenue to deal with the increasing load in the south-east part of the town.
Poles had' been erected as far as Brown’s Bay in the extension of the East Coast Bays’ line and supply would be turned on in Campbell’s and Murray’s Bays almost imediately. The total value of sales during the month amounted to £530. Orders had been received for 2.0 ranges.
