TURUA LOWERS RATES

The general rate in the Tuiua town district was reduced from to Id in the £, on the capital valuation, at the monthly board meeting on Wednesday evening. This has been made possible by the declaration of Hauraki Road as part of the main highway. The special rate for street lighting was reduced from Id to l-8d as there was a credit in the account. The annual statement of accounts received from the Hauraki Plains County Council showed that the debit balance had been reduced from £ll2 4s lid to £64 Is Id. The works committee reported that a section of Hauraki Road footpaths had been asphalted. This is the first asphalt footpath to be constructed in the county. Much work had been done on other footpaths and they were now better than they had been for many years.
