MR. GROUNDS EXPLAINS DAIRY BOARD QUARREL Press Association DUNEDIN, Thursday. At the South Island Dairy Association Mr. W. Grounds, chairman of the Dairy Board, explained the crisis which culminated in th© resignation of Mr. W. Goodfellow. Following the lines of his previous statement he said that the politicians, the Press and financial interests were joined against the Produce Board to usurp control of the industry. The meeting passed a unanimous vote that Mr. Grounds be retained as chairman of the board. Remits were carried: “That this conference views with alarm th© Government’s action in imposing a duty on dairy machinery and strongly urges that this extra burden on the farmer be removed. “Also that the Government exempt from heavy traffic licence fees lorries used by farmers for their own purposes only."
