FARMING INSTRUCTORS
TRANSFER FROM CANTERBURY PROTEST TO DEPARTMENT Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. Protest was made at a meeting of the North Canterbury Farmers’ Union to-day against the action of the Agricultural Department in transferring two of its senior officers, Messrs. J. W. Hadfield and A. W. Hudson, from Christchurch to Palmerston North, in spite of an assurance by the DirectorGeneral of Agriculture that these officers would continue to initiate and supervise research work in Canterbury. Members expressed grave doubts whether the officers would, in fact, do very much at Palmerston to help agriculture in Canterbury. It was eventually resolved that the president and secretary be a committee with power to act, and that they inquire into the contemplated removal of Messrs. Hadfield and Hudson to Palmerston North, and make an appropriate protest.
