AUCKLANDERS COMPETE

TITE PRIZE ENTRANTS

For the first time Aucklanders are competing in the Empire competitions organised by the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Sixteen entries have been received from students at the School of Architecture at the Auckland University College. , The competition is being organised in New Zealand by the New Zealand Institute of Architects. The preliminary examination, for the purpose of elimination, was held on June 2. The final commences on July 7. The Tite Prize, valued at £SO, is offered to enable students to make a study of Italian architecture. The Victory Scholarship, valued at £l5O, is for facilities for advanced study. Entries for this competition closed last month. Commenting upon the competition to-day. Professor Knight, of the University School of Architecture said: “I am particularly pleased that New Zealanders will have an opportunity of competing for these prizes. lam convinced that we have the material here, and I feel that our entrants will stand a good chance with competitors from Canada, Australia, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.’’
