Holloway, who has been for several months in the Bay of Islands, has returned to Hamilton. * * * Mrs. Harp, of New Plymouth, is at present in Hamilton. * * • Mrs. A. Gifford, of Claudelands, has gone for some months to Australia. * * * Mrs. W. Tait, of Ngaruawahia, is the guest of Mrs. W. F. Johns, at Raglan. Mrs. L. Bell, of Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. Smales, Cambridge. Mrs. A. Pollard, of Te AWamutu, has bene spending a short holiday in Auckland. BRIDGE PARTY. Miss Betty Manning gave a delightful bridge party at her home in River Road on Monday night. The rooms were cosy with big fires, and gay with scarlet berries. Miss Manning was wearing a very pretyt frock of coffee lace, with cerise sash. Her guests were: Miss Fay Bailin (Christchurch), Miss Elsie Simmons, Miss Gray Hammond. Miss Erena Ward. Miss Norah Valder, Miss Nan Monckton. Miss Ruby Vicery, Miss Bessie Vickery, Miss Anne Gillillan. Miss Lorna Nicholls, Miss Dorothy Wilson, Miss Kat. Wilson, Miss Cecily Chittv,, Miss Ailsa Wilson, and Miss Kath. Oliver. Miss Nan Monckton was the winner of a beautiful powder bowl for the highest score, and Miss Bessie Vickery the consolation prize. * * * TENNIS DANCE. Last Thursday night the Hautapu hall looked very gay with red and white streamers, balloons, and coloured lights, when the tenins dance was held. The hall was crowded, and the music was excellent. Among those present were: Mesdames F. Swayne, E. Souter, Allen, Cray, Rowland, S. Lewis. Perry, Flisst, Jamieson, the Misses H. Crowther, I. Garland, Souter, Veale, K. Oliver, D. Wycombe, E. Robinson. Bourke. G. Bradshaw, E. Mackeretli, K. Brabant, M. Short. A. Nolan. V. Rowland, M. Bourke, E. Flisst, Morman, G. Beer, G. Hulme, M. Armstrong, B. Crowther, R. Souter, M. Souter, F. COUNTRY CLUB MEETS The Te Pahu Women’s Club held its fortnightly meeting on Wednesday, and the many members present had a most enjoyable afternoon. Mrs. KentJohnston, of Hamilton, had been invited v the executive to address the m tubers on the aims ana objects of the Mothers’ Union, and she gave a very interesting and instructive talk on the lubject. A very heart?/ vote of thanks •vas proposed by the president of the club, Mrs. Mahoney, and on all sides wishes were expresesd that Mrs. KentJohnson should come again to give another lecturette.
