BOY SCOUT FUNCTION

NEW PUNUA TROOP The recently-formed Punua Troop of Boy Scouts and Cubs held a pound night in the Methodist Hall, Dominion Road, on Tuesday. The troop is under the command of Miss I. Watts, the only scout mistress in Auckland, with Mr. D. Watts as the assistant cub master, and during the time it has been in existence splendid progress has been made with the 36 boys on the roll. The Commissioner, Mr. R. C. Grigsby, was present last evening and among the guests were Mrs. Addis and Mr. Middleton, who are both connected with the Scout movement in England. A large number of paxents and others also assembled. The English visitors took charge of the games and afterwards supper was served. During the evening the Commissioner presented Mrs. E. Watts with a handsome gold Swastika Thanks Badge. This is only presented for exceptional services, it being considered a high honour to be thus decorated.
