BORING FOR WATER

ROAD BOARD CALLS FOR TENDERS SPEED-LIMIT NOTICES The One Tree Hill Road Board at its meeting last evening decided to instruct the traffic inspector to furnish a list of intersections where notices should be erected under the new motor regulations to show that the speed limit of 15 miles an hour was to be enforced. No satisfactory tenders were received for the sinking of a water-bore at the One Tree Hill Domain and it was decided to call tenders to continue the present shaft another 100 feet. Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P., wrote stating that he had been informed by the Railway Department that the levelcrossing at Church Street was included in the list of dangerous crossings to be provided witli warning devices. The board decided to send a letter to Mr. Jordan expressing its appreciation of his action. The proposed allocation of the public works vote showed an estimated deficiency of £96 and the estimate was referred to the works committee for further consideration. The building inspector reported that during the past fortnight 12 permits to the value of £2,808 had been issued.
