POLICE FAREWELLS

PRESENTATIONS MADE Members of the police 'force in the Newmarket district met to say farewell to Constable C. W. Powell and Constable A. White on Saturday evening. Constable Powell, who has been transferred to Pukekohe, was presented with a case of pipes and Constable White, who is going to Thames, received a gold-mounted fountain pen. Sergeant Rock made the presentations and congratulated the men on their tact and common sense. Sergeant E. Burnett, who has been transferred from Coromandel to Auckland, was the guest of honour on Friday evening. Mr. J. W. Barker, on behalf of the residents of Coromandel, presented Sergeant Burnett with a cheque. In doing so he spoke of the sergeant’s impartiality and courtesy, combined with the efficiency of his work.
