TE AWAMUTU NEWS
A public farewell was tendered tc Sergeant and Mrs. P. J. Doyle at T<: Awamutu ono Thursday evening, a large gathering being present. The presentation took the form of a gold watch and chain and silvr plate. The Presbyterians of Te Awamutu believe in direct giving. The contributions to the gift day on a recent Sunday, and on the opening day of the new Sunday School totalled £290 16s sd. The sale of old material and other items of revenue added to the amount in hand (£597 13s 2d), brought the aggregate to approximately £950. The cost of the building was £l,lOO. The following officers were elected at the seventh annual meeting of the Te Awamutu Fire Brigade:—Secretary, G. Swain; treasurer. A. E. Wilkes; honorary surgeon. Dr. G. J. Hall, re-elected; auditor, Mr. G. O. Jourdain. Receipts for the year totalled £42 13s 6d, or with balance brought forward £45 15s 6d, and the expenditure £44 14s sd, leaving a balance of £1 2s Id. It was decided to hold the annual smoke concert in July.
