LEAP YEAR BALL
LODGE FUNCTION A very successful Leap Y r ear ball was held at Pukekohe on Thursday evening, under the auspices of Lodge Betliesda Rebekah, Independent Order of Oddfellows. The attendance was exceptionally large, the floor being thronged with dancers throughout the evening. The decorative scheme comprised streamers, flowers and nikau palms, and was artistically arranged. The Dixieland Internationals supplied the music and various exhibition dances were performed by Aliss Yvonne Arlen and Air. Colin Shorter, both of Auckland. The attendant duties of mistresses of ceremonies were undertaken by Sisters Nightingale, T. Duncan, AI. Sellar, Scoon, Horne, Alorris, L. O’Connor, N. Hawke and L. Perkins. Those present included: Airs. Cecil Mahon, wearing a blue and silver frock. Airs. W. Evans, lavender georgette, taffeta trimmings. Airs. V. Alorris, powder blue frock, satin and gold relief. Madame Nightingale, black taffeta, gold lace trimmings. Airs. H. Charlesworth, cream georgette, trimmings of silver lace. Airs. W. W. Horne, green frock, indian embroidery and crystal beading. Airs. F. Sutcliffe, purple crepe de chine. Airs. H. V. Wilkins, sea green, with crepe de chine sequins. Aliss Ivy Duncan, buttercup taffeta and diamante trimmings. Aliss Raynes, cherry georgette. Aliss Winnie Newcombe, apricot crepe de chine. Aliss Alargaret Sellar, petunia tinsel. Aliss AlcNally, apricot crepe de chine. Aliss Florence Nightingale, duchess blue taffeta, gold and posy trimmings. Aliss Pattie Lyne, silver tissue, and lace, girdled with “Betty” blue satin. Aliss Bessie Scoon, peach crepe de chine.
