Tar on Fire.—Tar being heated for footpath work in Remuera Road boiled over a few minutes after 11 o'clock this morning and caught alight. The Remuera Brigade extinguished the fire with little trouble. '
Girl Thrown From Horse.—A young woman, Miss Nita Boult, aged 19 years, was thrown from a horse near Palmerston North yesterday and seriously injured in the head. She was taken to the hospital. Her condition is serious.—Press Association.
