Rheumatism Costs England £17,000,000 in Single Year

The cost in loss of wages and medical attention was £17,000,000,” said Sir Walter Kinnear, of the Ministry of Health, at a medical authorities’ conference at Bath. Sir George Newman, Chief Medical Officer of the Ministry of Health, declared that children’s acute rheumatism was sowing the seeds of a growing harvest of diseases of the heart and nerves. Doctors were unaware of its real cause, hut since it started at the school age, it was then they must explore it.
