OUTBOARD RACING
AKARANA CLUB EVENTS Outboard motor-boats were again busy on Saturday afternoon, when the Akarana Yacht Club held two races near its clubhouse. An excellent start was seen in the first race, the five contestants crossing the line within 5s of one another. At the end of the first round Humbug had a lead of 5s on Bacteria. Rainbow came next and then Rose Marie and Zel. In the second round Bacteria passed Humbug and the former held her lead until the fourth lap, when Humbug regained her position and finished 5s ahead of her rival. Finishing times were: Humbug, 3.45.25; Bacteria, 3.45.30; Rainbow, 3.46.35. Rose Marie and Zel gave up. Result: Humbug, 1; Bacteria, 2. Entries and handicaps in the second race were: Humbug and Bacteria, scr; Rose Marie, lm; Rainbow, lm 10s; Zel, 2m. Another interesting race was witnessed between Humbug and Bacteria, the former again being successful. The finishing times were: Humbug, 4.20.8; Bacteria, 4.20.30; Rainbow, 4.21.22; Rose Marie, 4.22.30. Zel did not finish. Result: Humbug, 1; Rainbow, 2; Bacteria, 3.
